{"id":5006,"date":"2023-04-28T12:53:32","date_gmt":"2023-04-28T10:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.servicemeister.org\/2023\/04\/28\/abschlusskonferenz-von-service-meister-ki-innovationen-fuer-den-mittelstand\/"},"modified":"2023-10-04T14:46:40","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T12:46:40","slug":"final-conference-of-service-meister-ai-innovations-for-smes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.servicemeister.org\/en\/2023\/04\/28\/final-conference-of-service-meister-ai-innovations-for-smes\/","title":{"rendered":"Final Conference of Service-Meister: AI Innovations for SMEs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><strong>By Nils Klute, IT Editor and Project Manager Communication Cloud Services at EuroCloud Deutschland<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>Sharing data, not only to keep machines and plants available, but also to realise new business models \u2013 at the final conference of Service-Meister on 22 and 23 May in Berlin, everything will revolve around the question of how artificial intelligence is redefining value creation in industrial service and SMEs.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From bolts to pinions to catch hooks for locking systems \u2013 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esw-group.eu\/unternehmen_en.php\">esw GROUP<\/a> develops and produces metal-plastic products for the automotive, commercial vehicle and construction industries. To shorten downtimes and keep machines ready for use, the medium-sized company is developing an intelligent service ticket system. Artificial intelligence (AI) should, for example, make it possible to determine errors more precisely and categorise them automatically. Maintenance and repair challenges like these are what not only esw GROUP but also the industrial companies <a href=\"https:\/\/de.krohne.com\/en\/\">KROHNE<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wuerth.com\/wuerth-group\/homepage.php\">W\u00dcRTH<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trumpf.com\/en_INT\/\">TRUMPF<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/oge.net\/en\">Open Grid Europe<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keb-automation.com\/\">KEB<\/a> have been working on at Service-Meister. Together with IT partners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usu.de\/de\/\">USU Software<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/grandcentrix.net\/\">grandcentrix<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inovex.de\/en\/\">inovex<\/a>, the companies have joined in so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicemeister.org\/en\/the-speedboat-projects\/\">speedboat project<\/a> tandems, the results of which are now the focus of the final Service-Meister conference<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>AI in SMEs: Results on 22 and 23 May in Berlin<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Digital advisors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/topics\/chatbots?mhsrc=ibmsearch_a&amp;mhq=chatbot\">chatbots<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/thought-leadership\/institute-business-value\/report\/ar-vr-workplace\">augmented reality applications<\/a> and apps are designed to help technicians in their work and make digitalised master knowledge scalable: \u201cOur speedboat projects have successfully brought AI into industrial service,\u201d says Christine Neubauer. \u201cOn 22 and 23 May, we will present the results for SMEs in Berlin,\u201d notes Hauke Timmermann. Neubauer and Timmermann had organised the consortium at the <a href=\"https:\/\/international.eco.de\/\">eco Association<\/a> for the past three years. And both had accompanied the developments from the start of the project in early 2020. \u201cesw GROUP was first an associated partner,\u201d explains Neubauer, \u201cthen the company itself got actively involved in the work in 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Applying AI, transferring knowledge and closing skills gaps<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past three years, the research project has been working on \u201con an open ecosystem for industrial service in the age of Industry 4.0\u201d, according to Timmermann. An ecosystem, not only to make digitalised master knowledge available to technicians, but also \u201cto close gaps in skilled workers and to make SMEs more competitive with AI,\u201d adds Neubauer. On the one hand, the results of Service-Meister aim to increase the use of AI in SMEs. For example, companies plan their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd-ilibrary.org\/sites\/01a4ae9d-en\/index.html?itemId=\/content\/component\/01a4ae9d-en\">AI entry via an online assessment<\/a> from Service-Meister. And on the other hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicemeister.org\/en\/ai-in-technical-service-learning-teaching-training\/\">further training courses<\/a> provide the necessary knowledge. \u201cIn order to share our successes across the board, we have established a large network,\u201d explains Timmermann. \u201cMore than 70 associated partners also support Service-Meister,\u201d according to Neubauer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Service Master and Gaia-X: \u201cA lot of things are converging<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAI often remains a proof of concept in SMEs,\u201d states Andreas Weiss, who launched the AI project as head of the Digital Business Models division at the eco Association What could be the reason for that? Weiss comments, \u201cBecause of data silos, lack of standards and knowledge\u201d. Initiatives like <a href=\"https:\/\/gaia-x.eu\/\">Gaia-X<\/a> are just getting the necessary technology off the ground. And with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gxfs.eu\">Gaia-X-Federation Services project<\/a>, the Internet Association itself is contributing to the solution. <strong>Service-Meister and Gaia-X:<\/strong> Neubauer believes \u201ca lot of things converge there\u201d. Similarly, Weiss points out that \u201cthe connected and distributed data infrastructure is not only suitable for digital business models in the service domain\u201d. \u201cWherever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicemeister.org\/en\/2022\/12\/12\/turning-a-profit-with-data-and-digital-service-knowledge\/\">companies want to create value based on data<\/a>, they need open architectures, standards and blueprints, such as those Service-Meister will now present at the final conference,\u201d says Neubauer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Register by 18 May and participate free of charge <\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The final conference of Service-Meister will take place on 22 and 23 May at the (German-language) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitale-technologien.de\/DT\/Navigation\/DE\/ProgrammeProjekte\/Forum-Digitale-Technologien\/forum-digitale-technologien.html\">Forum Digital Technologies<\/a> &nbsp;, Salzufer 15\/16, Berlin-Charlottenburg. On both days, experts from the consortium will not only present the results, but also discuss the technological perspectives with speakers from industry, academics and society. Attendance at the event is free of charge after prior registration. The number of guests is limited to 100 visitors. Participation will be decided on a first-come, first-served basis with a registration deadline of 18 May 2023.
